Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is one of the most famous Indian celebrities, who have set her own stage in the world as a whole. She is currently residing in Mumbai, Maharashtra. Aishwarya Rai is a well known Indian film actress, born on 1 November, 1973 in Mangalore. Rai was born to a Tulu speaking Bunt family in Mangalore. Aishwarya Rai's father, Krishnaraj, was a Marine Biologist, while her mother, Brindya, is a housewife. Aishwarya Rai has one elder brother Aditya Rai, who is an engineer in the Merchant Navy.
Aishwarya began her career working as a model before entering into the film industry and ultimately won the Miss World pageant in 1994. Aishwarya Rai has proved her acting talent in various languages knowingly Hindi, Tamil, Bengali and Telugu.
Aishwarya was often cited by the media as the most beautiful woman in the world. Rai made her acting debut in Mani Ratnam’s Tamil movie Iruvar (1997), and had her first commercial success in the Tamil movie Jeans in the year 1998. She had later on gained the attention of the Bollywood through the movie Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999) directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. Her performance in this movie bagged her with the award the Best Filmfare Actress Award. Later in the year 2002, Aishwarya Rai appeared in Bhansali’s Devdas movie, for which she won her second Filmfare Best Actress Award.

Aishwarya Rai has done her schooling in Mumbai and did her intermediate schooling at Jai Hind College for a year, and then joined DG Ruparel College in Matunga, securing 90 per cent in the HSC exams. Aishwarya Rai is trained in classical dance and music for five years during her teens. She had enrolled at Raheja College, with the intent to become an architect, but later gave up her education to pursue a career in modeling.

She got married to the fellow actor Abhishek Bachchan in the year 2007. In the year 2009, Aishwarya Rai was honored with Padma Shri, the fourth-highest civilian award given by the Government of India.
In the arena of social work she has played a remarkable role. In the year 1999, Aishwarya Rai has participated in a world tour called the Magnificent Five, along with Aamir Khan, Rani Mukherji, Akshay Khanna and Twinkle Khanna. In the same year, she was appointed as Longines Ambassador of Elegance. In the year 2003, she became the first Indian actress to be a jury member at the Cannes Film Festival. In 2003 she became the global brand ambassador of L’Oreal, alongside Andie Macdowell, Eva Longoria and Penelope Cruz. Aishwarya Rai is the brand ambassador for The Eye Bank Association of India’s nationwide campaign to promote eye donation in India. In 2005 she became a brand ambassador for Pulse Polio, a campaign established by the Government of India in 1994 to eradicate polio in India. In the same year, she was appointed as the spokesperson for the International Year of Microcredit, raising awareness of the main goals and priorities of the United Nations poverty alleviation efforts.
Along with the other members of the Bachchan family, Aishwarya Rai has laid the foundation for a special school for the underprivileged girls in Daulatpur village in Uttar Pradesh in 2008. In 2009 Rai was appointed as the first Goodwill Ambassador of Smile Train, an international charity that provides free Cleft lip and palate surgery to children in need. Her work with Smile Train focused not only in India, but also extended to 76 different developing countries around the world.
